I Call You Samba, I Call You A Field ...

I did not write your name in the flying years

In Earth,

Indweller in the fractured nation,

I did not write it in the two Niles,

And how green grass,

Grows two-sided,

Sipping Abyssinian coffee,

And dancing in the tone of the pagan drum,

Hey "Samba", of Lower Egypt ... 

I would describe her as a samba, a very young girl, a beautiful brunette, graceful, running in the corridors of the daily newspaper, which I used to work in.

She was reading my poems before they were published while sitting at her desk from which she managed the communication of journalists.

It was her habit to ask me about some aesthetic symbols, especially those that appear in common words between eloquent phrases, which I used to put between brackets.

For example, she asked me why “ابوسَ” instead of “أُقبِّل” in a verse of the poem “The Awakening of the Phoenix”.  I wrote these two verbs in Arabic, because they have only one meaning in English and it is no meaning to repeat the verb "kiss" in English.

At that time, I explained to her the effect of the vernacular, with the meaning and music it bears in the context of the poetic line. Then this piece of poetry began.

I was attached to that pure virginity of her, simplicity and her beautiful color and had much of joy talking to her. I told her that she has a sense of a journalist. After few years, she became so in the same newspaper I worked. I am still enjoying this memory, which has produced this piece of poetry.
